يقول الله تعالى: "فقلت استغفروا ربكم إنه كان غفاراً(10) يرسل السماء عليكم مدرارا(ً11) ويمددكم بأموال ِِ وبنين ويجعل لكم جنات ويجعل لكم أنهاراً " (12)" سورة نوح الآيات 10-12



وعن شداد بن أوس - رضى الله عنه - عن النبى - صلى الله عليه وسلم - قال سيد الاستغفار "اللهم أنت ربى لا إله إلا أنت خلقتني وأنا عبدك وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت، أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك من نعمتك علي، وأبوء بذنبي فاغفر لي فانه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت"
